INTERN

Jan. 2023-Apr. 2023

After my move to Rotterdam, NL I got the opportunity to intern for Margreeth Olsthoorn. A fashion collector, stylist and store owner (and many more). During these four months I was able to hone many skills mainly in the areas of sustainability and creativity.

Sustainability

One of my main tasks was to alter garment pieces either to the wishes of their new owners or to my own creative ideas.

I had the chance to develop basic sewing skills and try out many different technics of alteration. Such as linoleum printing, painting and stitching.

These circular practices inspired me to research deeper on the topic of sustainable fashion. With this initiative and interest I was able to successfully create a master thesis regarding the ‘State of Circular Textiles in the Czech Republic’. This research touched the topics of sustainable practices in the post-communist society.

Creativity

My second major responsibility during this internship was to create a fashion magazine that showcased Margreeth Olsthoorn's unique identity and the essence of her store. This project was a deep dive into understanding her world—her taste in fashion, music, and design—and translating that vision into a tangible, visual publication.

Adobe Creative Cloud quickly became my go-to tool, as I spent hours perfecting layouts, selecting imagery, and altering the design to reflect Margreeth’s aesthetic. The goal was to capture her style and the carefully curated pieces her store offers, from avant-garde fashion to timeless classics, while also weaving in her love for music and modern design. Bringing her vision to life on paper was both a creative and technical challenge, but it allowed me to refine my design skills and develop a deeper understanding of visual storytelling. The final product was a humble yet diverse magazine that truly reflected who Margreeth is and the spirit of her boutique.
